North Korea is urging its officials to prepare for heavy monsoon rains that are expected to hit the country in the coming days. Leader Kim Jong Un has issued orders for local governments and disaster relief agencies to take precautionary measures to minimize the impact of potential flooding.
The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that Kim "stressed the need to thoroughly prepare for the heavy rain season, which is expected to bring a considerable amount of precipitation." The agency added that Kim instructed officials to "take all necessary measures to prevent damage to crops and ensure the safety of the people."
