Clovis Man Arrested in Amarillo on Drug Charges

Wesley Chapman, 45, was arrested on suspicion of trafficking fentanyl pills

The arrest comes four months after Clovis police found hundreds of fentanyl pills in his possession

CLOVIS, N.M. (KAMR/KCIT) — The Clovis Police Department reports that Wesley Chapman, 45, was arrested in Amarillo, Texas, on suspicion of trafficking fentanyl pills.

The arrest comes four months after Clovis police found hundreds of fentanyl pills in Chapman's possession during a traffic stop. Chapman was initially charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, but those charges were later dropped.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, Chapman was arrested on Friday, Jan. 13, after officers responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle. Officers found Chapman in the vehicle, along with a large amount of fentanyl pills.

Chapman was booked into the Potter County Jail on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. He is currently being held on a $100,000 bond.

The Clovis Police Department is continuing to investigate the case.
